College Prices, Costs, and Outcomes: Who’s Minding the Gap Between Higher Education and the Public? is “a survey recently conducted by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) of more than 2,500 board members across the country.” A few interesting findings:
- 55 percent think “Higher education is too expensive relative to its value.” (Table 2)
- 17 percent think “My institution is too expensive relative to its value.” (Table 1)
- Only 43 percent think “My institution is doing all it can to keep tuition and fees affordable for students.” (Table 2 Exec Sum)
- Only 19 percent strongly agree that “Higher education prepares graduates very well for their careers.” (Table 5 Exec Sum)
- 21 percent strongly disagree or disagree that “The United States needs more of our citizens to earn college degrees.” (Table 6 Exec Sum)
