Ms. Thomas writes of her school and photos:

Mt. Vernon Woods Elementary School is nestled in a neighborhood in Alexandria, Va., and is a Fairfax County Public School. Our school is a diverse one—students come from many countries and backgrounds. It has a neighborhood feel and most of our students walk to school. We provide lots of opportunities for our kids, and one of them is a fabulous arts education. All of the 5th and 6th grade play an instrument and many sing in our chorus.

These pictures were taken just outside of my band room, which is at the end of our new modular unit. The building was completed last September and replaced the old trailers with a beautiful new big one. We love the back porch! Sometimes my band class can just step out the back door here and serenade the neighborhood. That is what we did this morning—a little “Jingle Bells” and some candy canes to help us celebrate all of the things we are thankful for this holiday season.

Happy Holidays from the Mt. Vernon Woods 6th Grade Trombones to you!

P.S.— Teachers, we need more views!  Send them here.
